Asvin Provides Cybersecurity for the Internet of Things
Executive Summary
We interview Mirko, CEO of asvin GmbH a cybersecurity startup from Stuttgart, Germany. During the interview, we touch on data leaks in Star Wars, vulnerabilities in IoT, vulnerabilities in supply chains, and even in space (think cube satellites). BLOG: Neobank Deal Week
We published our blog post on July 15th that Qonto is rumored to be interested in buying Penta. Just 7 days later Penta and Qonto confirmed the deal. Price estimates in the press are at “hundreds of millions”, where it may be fair to assume that the price will be below Penta’s target valuation of 500 m € at the start of their fundraising stated in February 2022, due to the current market conditions.

BLOG: IDnow Raising Funds — Shelving Germany’s Largest Fintech Exit For Now
On March 18th we shared the news, that our former guest IDnow, is in the process of looking for Germany’s largest fintech exit at 1bn Euros (1,1 bn US$ at the time).
As of today, the company reported that they arranged 60 m Euros from BlackRock as a debt facility to continue driving the consolidation in the space in Europe. A debt facility is an available credit, that IDnow could draw on to grow or when they found an acquisition target. We would be surprised if the CEO Andreas Bodczek would not have already initiatives and acquisition targets in mind.

Monkee - Saving. Rewarded. has been a guest in our podcast back in September 2021. The fintech offers Save Now Buy Later (SNBL) via their app. They are special not only since they are from the Austrian region of Tyrol, but also because they are a fintech with more than 80% women as clients.

We have kept up with the development of Bitwala (in the meantime rebranded to Nuri) since our interview in April 2020. We have also kept up with their recent troubles, being caught between a rock and a hard place. They have been hit by the funding freeze for privately held companies, the recent crypto crash, AND the Celsius Network insolvency.

byways is a SaaS tool, which connects warehouses, clients, and logistic companies to order transportation at the time and date needed, like a Calendly for logistics. They already have ASOS, Maersk, and Sennder amongst their clients.
You can imagine our tool as a kind of a calendar app, where the customer can book transportation for a desired date and time.

Startups in the greater Rhine-Main-Area have raised in H1 2022 more funding, than in all of 2021! So far we have tracked 28 deals worth 470+ m Euros ( ~ 480 m US$, ~460 m CHF). We also found 20 investments over 2020 and 2021 the state of Hessen made as corona aid investments valued at 8,8 m € in companies we classified as startups.
